Hey Josh,
My real name, I don`t give out on the Internet. (Far to many psychos out there!) But here is my web page.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/flute_fun/

I came from NY but live in the dreaded South now. (Husband job transferred us here.) I am a flute teacher at a Music and Arts Institute. I play for special occasions and am active in several groups. I like to think of playing the flute more as a hobby. It is my passion in life, but kids will come first for me when I do have them. I plan to be a 24/7 Mommy.

I have been married to the love of my life for five years. He is also a musician and teaches guitar on the side. He is a beautiful piano and keyboard player. We released a CD last year.

I LOVE animals and of course, anything flute related. Hmm.. well I think that is about it for now. I am going to be making up an mp3 of myself on the flute later this week if anyone would care to have a listen. And please... no tomato throwing! Lol!

Well, I didn`t put anything on here at first, because I was waiting to see how far this thread went.

I live in the desert southwest in USA, although I`m originally from the midwest. I`ve played flute for over 3 decades. I had a full ride music scholarship to a wonderful, private midwestern college, but turned it down, changed my major, earned a Master`s Degree, and have happily worked in another field since.

I am married with four children, who are my life. I work, and take care of all of them.

I play every Sunday at my church, a fairly large (2,000 people per Mass)very popular Catholic Church. I also play in musical orchestra pits, community groups, and for schools. I too consider flute my hobby, but I also feel it is my ministry.

I play on an old, full silver, open hole, in-line flute that remains dear to my heart because of who gave it to me. Even though I get loads of compliments every Sunday, I`m slowly coming to grips with the possibility of getting a different flute. Money and sentiment are holding me back.

I consider my flute knowledge to be relatively basic compared to the many others on this forum, but I seek knowledge daily, and I think I contribute best through my communication skills and generally positive, accepting attitude... HOWEVER, don`t get me started on politics or religion - I turn quickly!

Just a note to say that some people may be reluctant to say much about themselves because of nasty reactions in various forms that occurred in the past in flute forums.

A pity, but that is how it is - open slather from a world containg a lot of nastiness.

So if this thread remains small, then that is a possible reason. Don`t hold it against anybody.

Cheers.

PS. Please respect the information revealed by those who DO participate.

Yes, I can understand that.

Thanks for sharing kipsix. I grew up playing in a Catholic church choir, that is where I met my husband. I always loved the music selections. I miss my church.

Thanks Kara! You know you are always welcome to "come home"!

Welcome Kevin, and thanks for sharing! Congratulations on winning first chair! Be sure to be careful about giving information that can identify you. We`ll assume you gave a made-up name!

Hi I guess I`ll tell you all a little bit about me. I have played the flute for 14 years. I live in the subarbs of Seattle Washington. I am currently studying to be a special education teacher ( I do my student teaching next fall!). I have my BA in Linguistics and a minor in Spanish. I was previously in my university orchestra and wind esemble, but now I have so many time conflicts that it is not possible. I`m currently teaching reading four days a week at a local elementary school and love it.

"You know you are always welcome to "come home"!"

I do go to another church where I live now, but I miss my church back in NY. (My real home!)

But thanks, that is sweet, I do know what you are saying. My Mom and Dad are devoted Christians as is the rest of my family. I am the only one that is still sitting on the fence, so to speak. I do feel the pressure of it at times and I can not ignore it.

My husband actually went to seminary school to become a priest. Him and I clash a lot on religious views, not to mention political ones.

Kara:
Such a coincidence!!! My husband was pre-sem for Lutheran (before I met him)! After being together for about twenty years, he decided to officially convert (he had been "acting" Catholic that whole time). I never asked him to convert, because I would never want someone asking such a thing from me! He`s a musician also! Lots in common....except I`m VERY allergic to cats and bunnies!
