Simple, it sounds like you just need a new pad. My Geminhardt had the same probelm except it was on the eflat key. It`s easy, just bring it to your local music store and have it fixed, though it could could be more expensive or just bring it to your music teacher and myabe he/she can fix it or send it to some place to get it fixed cheaper. If you get the new pad and it still doenst work then you might have a leak.

To keep from having this probelm again use a pad saver when your done playing or use cigarette paper to clean out from under your keys. ALso, brush your teeth before you play. The sugars and other things in your mounth can derteriote your pads. AND DON"T CHEW GUM when you play. I know I do and that adds to problems..

Hope this helps.

If ur getting one this summer probably not. I brought it to my music store and they fund out a while other bunch of things that needed fixing.. like they do a WHOLE check on the flute. I think I neened one of my keys realligned but I only got the pad fixed... it wa slike $30 I think. I got toally ripped off. It should only cost about $10 I think. But if ur getting a new flute don`t worry about it

Sorry we don`t respond but sometimes we don`t know the answer to the question that is being asked. Or maybe it is just that other people spend more time actually playing their flute instead of spending all of their time on here!

Did you know that you`re supposed to have your flute tuned up every couple years? You`re also supposed to replace the cork and pads every 3-5 years. Because of the moisture in the atmosphere, as well as all the spit you put in your flute, it`s only natural that pads will get worse with age, and if they are misaligned, you don`t have much choice.

Good luck,
Gumdrop

Just get a whole new flute, Gemeinhardts suck! Try getting a Muramatsu EX.
