Okay, I have to say that this isn`t an earth shattering topic, but... I am so annoyed when I click on a thread and find out it was started two-three years ago, died an peaceful death, and someone happens to pull it up (for some unknown reason), to respond to the first post or two (not even the whole thread!).

Wouldn`t it make more sense to start a new thread rather than dredge up the old poo?

Am I being over critical here?

Hey Kippsix!
No, you are not alone. It irritates me also.

Likewise.

I have another peeve... people changing the subject, so that it remains blank for every future contributor (I THINK that`s how it happens), making filling in the subject again just a pain, so I just use ~~~ or similar.

...but I suppose it is better to dredge up an old thread than starting a new one in some cases. Imagine a NEW "Armstrong " thread, with everything being said over again.

It`s just the adding an opinion to an old thread without even reading it that is annoying.

True, but some threads become amazing like the "Oboe brands to avoid" thread in the oboe forum that has thankfully never died.

It is worth a read from the beginning through all 20 or so pages since the start.

But then I see the "Are Flutist better looking thread" and I think closing some threads could be a good idea.

"And how about the Disney music thread"
Exactly my point!!!

"I have another peeve... people changing the subject, so that it remains blank for every future contributor (I THINK that`s how it happens), making filling in the subject again just a pain, so I just use ~~~ or similar."
I agree! And I don`t know why my name slot is now blank...? It used to be that I never had to re-enter my name, because it was always there when I posted.
