it is so incredibly difficult for me to get the high high c out with a b foot. i have a high c facilitator but it is very hard for my pinky to reach and impossible for me to reach after coming off the high b when playing chromatically at a fairly fast speed.

getting a c foot isn`t really an option, but is there anything i can do to get my high c out better? any playing techniques or something i can do to my flute?

It is hard to reach the B lever when you are first trying, but just keep practicing it. It gets easier every time.

There are alternate fingerings for C4, but you would have to decide which is easier for you in context of what you are playing.

Here is a link to one alternate chart I found, but if this doesn`t work for you, try googling "flute alternate fingering chart" and you will find many hits.

Do you really play the highest C often at all? I believe James Galway mentioned that he usually practices up to the highest B as he sees no point in "practicing" the highest C. If you can get the B, the C will come out as well.

I have always found high c easier to play with a c foot, aside from Karas joking, try depressing the low c key, it may work fine, depends on the flute, or leave the little finger up on the right hand

are you talking about the high C that`s like 2 octaves above the staff? if so I use the fingering of and F, only no thumb and use the A-flat key as well. Remember to supposrt it and use faster air. It`ll take a few time before you get in pitch and kno exactly how much air you need, oh and no pinky...the one on your right hand.....nothing`ll come out if you have that pinky down.

Any tips on how to tune high c??? I play it a lot in band and both with and without the gizmo key and can`t for the life of me tune it. I`ll take a look at the alternate fingering but any other tips anyone knows?

"THE" alternate fingering!!!??

There are DOZENS of fingerings at
http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/music/flute/virtual/main.html

And the site gives a guide as to the expected tuning of each of them.

EDGER, there is a more polite way in trying to help people, you might want to try it sometime.

I shouldn`t have posted that, and just stayed out of it. (Kara opens mouth and inserts foot.)

OK, Mystical Waters... An obvious misunderstanding caused by the omission of an "s". Sorry about that, but I`m not surprised I misunderstood, with such a significant omission! I hope the link helps others.

BTW, I use capitals for a SINGLE word simply for emphasis, when there is no other quick way to show emphasis. It think this is pretty standard practise. If I wanted to "shout", I would write the whole sentence or post in capitals. Yes, I know I am lazy not using italics.
