flutes are alright, i guess you need them ... but there are just TOO MANY! (and not enough trombones)
my middle school band had like 30 odd flutes, 30 odd clarinets 15 saxes and like 2 trombones?!?
I think some of these flutes (and clarinets and saxes) should switch to trombone (or baritone, or french horn)

Yes, randombassbone, I agree as a flute that there are TOO MANY FLUTES (at least at my school)

i started playing flute last year...im not saying all guys flautists are bad, but the one in my band is last chair, and i only know one other guy flute and he is in a lower band. according to my former band director, though, guys have a really good lung capacity and make really good flautists. the oboist in my band is a guy and hes really good though! lol

I used to play muscle bass. It wasn`t manly enough as it was, so I took it into my garage and soldiered on an additional 10 frets to the end using my arc welding torch. Then I lit my cigarette with the arc touch.
I was riding my Harley to see Megadeth when I almost hit some band chick playing some silver chick instrument. I stopped just in time from smearing her guts over a mile of asphalt.
I barely touched her lovely silver Jupiter flute... it was just so pretty gleaming in the afternoon sun with the birds and croccuses around... a gentle afternoon breeze bringing with the warm scent of jasmine. Well, that one touch was enough, and I`ve since traded my custom muscle bass for an elegant silver flute of my own. Peter Frampton`s in town... I think I might want to catch his show.
I think I`m growing breasts.
