We may be off topic, but we all have one thing in common: the love of the flute

Note: I have a change in email address if anyone wants to contact me.

"some people can afford things others can`t. that`s life, end of story."

My parents could probably afford it if I wasn`t at a about $9000 per year tuition (although I have a $1000 scholarship so about $8000) not including buying books and uniforms, plus at my old school where my sister goes, it costs about $4000 per year. My parents make good money, but still!!

*sighs* The joys of private school

Happy New Year all -- can you help me make up my mind? I`m returning to playing the flute after 35 years.I`ve rented a Gemeinhardt and now ready to purchase one of their models. The one I`m renting is an open hole, model 3. I`ve never used the "open" feature and not really sure if it`s really necessary to pay the extra for that item. So I think I`d like to instead invest the extra dollars in a silver head. Thinking of the model 2sh - any comments? Thanks so much!

Nobody I am sure would like to bring up the whole Gemeinhardt debate. We all know it will lead to Yamaha is better and Gemeinhardt is junk. Please go through the forum and read the other posts and save us a lot of agony.

Hi Pat, this is Patrick, the best thing to do, as there are many good flutes on the market these days (and many clunkers too), is to set a budget, visit a good dealer and try them out
