You should probably do some research on schools to see where you could earn a degree. For instance when you say you want to be an orchestra teacher, do you mean on a high school level, college, or eventually be a conductor for a professional orchestra?

Here is a nice simple solution. Ask your teacher how he/she started off.

Second of all, I don`t see any flute on your list of instruments.

I don`t think she was trying to be mean, but you are on a flute forum. I am not sure if you were aware of that. Most people that do come on a flute forum play the flute.

It is spelled FLUTE. If you are gonna come on a flute forum at least know how to spell it.

My older brother is an orchestra teacher. So here is pretty much what you have to do, this information is valid for the US, so if you`re not in the US it might be different. First off you will need to major in music education in college. The classes you will take will be like theory, ear training, learning how to play all the different instruments, conducting, and so forth. You will still have opportunities to play in esembles and take lesson from which ever university you go to (in fact it should be a requirement). When you are done with classes then you will student teach for a semester. When you get a degree you will be endorsed to teach K-12, but you can only teach music. So you could teach general music in an elementary school, choir, band, orchestra, etc... So you should look into universities that have strong music education programs. Good luck!

If this is an example of the typical high school music teacher, I can understand why nobody EVER likes them...

Wow, I dont see much of a musical future for you.

Tyler. My suggestion to you, would be to understand a few things:

1) Be sure to always use proper english and grammar on sites like this one. I usually don`t except when I`m on this type of site, I know thats how people judge you.

2) Try going to a forum where you do play that instrument, such as piano. Start off with, "I play Piano. (stop) I also play the violin, guitar, etc, etc.

Now for the Orchestra Teacher Part:

1) I would suggestion that since you wish to be in an orchestra, try learning all of the string instruments. Such as viola, cello, etc.

2) Also, why Elmentary? I`ve actually never come across an elementary school that had an orchestra. Try High School. That`ll work out better.

Kara was simply telling you that this is a flute forum, and IF you stated that you wanted to be an orchestra teacher in the first post, you might have been more welcome. And you should know how to spell flute!!

A high school band teacher is harsh but fair, very true.

Any person who is immature and not careful about what he/she says will be remembered and when he/she becomes famous, people will not attend the concerts.

I am sorry for all those who are posting on this forum if I sound anyway ranting or disgusted. I am. I am ticked off about a simple, 13 year old, immature person who has NOTHING nothing to deal with the flute.

I can live with spelling errors, but No one appreciates your attitude, and we know it is you who is writing all the "flute sucks" threads. If you are going to be this horrid to musicians, you are not going to be much of a conductor. Also, cursing us off will get you nowhere.
