I just sat down to write an update on my little friend Alex. We went to visit him yesterday, and amazingly things have gone so very well. He is in neuro-rehab, and is working hard to rebuild his left side. I had a wonderful conversation with him, and his old personality was right there teasing away at me, and bragging about getting his braces (teeth) taken off. We also discussed the wonders of Poptarts! I cannot believe that he is doing so well. It was so cool.

Unfortunatly, I just received a phone call that he has just been rushed back to the ICU because an MRI showed a large bloodclot in his LEFT brain hemisphere. This is unbelievable news. It is too early to know what is going to happen, but I PLEASE pray.

Hi Kippsix,
Thanks so much for the update. I am so sorry too. I am glad that he has recovered this far, he sounds like a real fighter. By the way, I found home.

Well thanks for asking! Alex is doing amazingly well. He is walking independently (wearing an AFO brace), he is proud to show everyone how he can "jump" (millimeters), his speech and language are great. His left hand and arm have nearly no movement. His attitude is very good. I do notice some impulsivity (both verbal and physical), but that is difficult to differentiate between brain injury and the fact that he is now a nine year old boy!
He is looking forward to an adaptation of his bike that will allow him to once again ride bikes with my daughter.
He is supposed to have the bone flap (portion of his skull) replaced soon. It has been out since they removed it in December to make room for the brain swelling.
Truly a miracle boy. He and his mother do his physical therapy excercises twice a day, everyday, no fail. He pushes himself to constantly improve himself. The other day I watched him get himself up from the floor, and he did it over and over again several times, until he was satisfied with the technique he was using. Amazing.
Once again, thanks for your prayers, and continue to include him because he does still have a second blood clot in his brain that could let loose anytime.
