hi all..i dont have any advanced knowledge in flutes..i can
only play by ear.i would like to know about getting the higher octave in flute.ie overblowing..some articles in internet says
to roll in mout towards the edge of the hole and to blow hard.
i tried for sometime but it didnt work.I am from india..and i tried in a bamboo flute..a classical one..is it possible to overblow by practice..or do i need any special type of flutes to get that..

please excuse my ignorance on the subject...regards max.

You don`t need any a different type of flute. You should never overblow it is really bad for future reference. You need to learn the fingering like everyone else.

here here leprechaun, Max, try to get a good teacher, high and low notes are controlled by the angle of the air

It`s not really over blowing to get to the 2nd octave you just use a little more air.
Over blowing is using as much air as possible to get those really high notes.
Anyway don`t worry about the hissing sounds it will go away in time and with practice.
