Hey! I`ve got a Yamaha YPC32- silver headjoint and plastic conical bore body. My question is, is it possible to buy a new plastic or wooden head joint that will fit that body? It`s a good piccolo; it got me through all of highschool marching and concert. I would just like something that blends even better in a concert setting and I can`t afford a whole new pic. THANKS!!

You can try and find a used wooden headjoint, I don`t think that Yamaha has ever made a plastic headjoint. I know that the wood headjoint from the 62 will fit on the 32, I have tried it before. As far as getting a plastic one, you would have to get a different brand and that would never fit.

You can buy a wood one new, but it will cost almost as much as it would just to buy an all plastic piccolo.

I thought about the same thing for my piccolo. It is a Jupiter JPC-303 with plastic body and metal head. Jupiter also make the same piccolo with a plastic head but I chose the metal head because I wanted it for using in a marching band as well as orchestra. But since I got it I`ve done a lot more orchestral playing than band and I`d like to have the plastic headjoint too so I`d have the choice of either metal or plastic depending on where I`m playing. I`ve looked but I don`t think you can buy just the headjoint - only the whole piccolo with one of the other! It`s a shame they don`t sell them separately. It`d make sense to!

Reeni, give Flute World a call. They will special order one for you. Just keep in mind, again, you are looking at spending almost as much for a new plastic headjoint as you would on a new piccolo. At least that is what Flute World has always told me.

Yes, I think fluteworld would be quite expensive, but thanks for the suggestion! If it costs a lot it`s not really worth it. The piccolo was fairly cheap anyway! It`s useful to know they can special order things like that though.
