There is a lot of variabilty in what a 10th grader can play. What pieces have you played before in the past?

I would do Debussey's "Syrinx" or Honnegger's "Danse de la Chevre"

"Piece" by Faure is a beautiful piece, not hard to memorize.

I second this recommendation. Both are staples of flute literature and both are crowd pleasers.

Yeah, Syrinx and Danse de la Chevre are great pieces, but I think they would be a little difficult for a 10th grader to memorize.

Btw--Syrinx is by Debussy, (not Debussey) and you can find any of the pieces at fluteworld.com

Sorry about the spelling. I had to memorize those pieces in highschool. They are repetative enough and fit under the fingers well.
