I recently aquired an all silver Emerson ELD flute and was trying to get information about it. I did a google search, but didn't come up with much. The headjoint has the letters HC at the top. Does anyone know which cut that is or know how I can find out more about this flute?
Thanks!

Appears to be an equivalent to their 6 series judging by their "list price" from a WWandBW listing that's still up. Emerson's website as far back as 1998 makes no mention of it though.

No, it is solid silver, it would be equivalent to the 8 series. The 6 series has a solid silver head but a plated body.

I just wish that I knew when it was made and what style of headjoint it is.

Do you have any ideas Micron? Have you worked on any of these flutes? I have been sick for the past two days, so I haven't got a chance to work on it yet to find out. It does play nicely.

Hey Kara,

I recently bought a new Emerson flute as my backup flute (but it's all I play currently since I'm saving for a Powell). The sales reps did have a couple of ELD flutes, which they said used to be the best ones offered in their line. However, they were now selling them at closeout prices to get rid of them. They also said the new Emersons (2001 +) play much better, since Emerson started hand finishing the mechanism and hand cutting the embouchure holes, as well as undercutting the tone holes.

Keep in mind, this is the info provided by sales reps, so it should be received with some skepticism. I tried to find an e-mail address for Emerson for some general inquiries, but I only found a phone number for Conn-Selmer on their web site.

I'd love to hear what you determine about the quality of the flute. It could be that the new flutes are of the same quality as their former flutes, and I was just given sales bs. I do love my Emerson though, it played just under the Yamahas. But I selected an American cut Emerson headjoint, which I'm growing more and more fond of everyday.

Thanks Tim.
I thought about giving them a call myself. I would like to know more about it. I was really impresssed with the sound of it when I did try it out. I just wish I knew which headjoit that I have on it.
