For under $500, you may have to resort to eBay, but Lera's right. Steer away from the colored ones, as well as any with multiple identical listings, or those advertised as made in China. There are some decent instruments coming out of China, and the quality seems to be slowly improving, but for the moment, consider any instruments that fit the above description to be junkers. That said, stick to name brand instruments no matter where you buy, and you should get a solid picc. Gemeinhardt, Emerson, Jupiter, Yamaha, Sonare, or Armstrong all make piccolos in generally your price range, or are commonly found used at around that amount. You most likely will not get a wooden instrument for less than $500 that is of any kind of quality, and if this is your first picc, or will be going outside, you will not need a wooden picc anyway. A metal, plastic, or metal/plastic combo are more likely to suit your needs and your budget. Hope that helps you!

I really need one fast because i want to be able to play a solo at the Nevada Solo/Ensemble Festival on flute, tenor sax, and piccolo(just so you know my main instrument was flute but last summer i started playing the sax and i played at the Nevada Solo/Ensemble Festival this last school year and i got a on both and i got a 1 rating on both and this year i want to add on the piccolo and last years All-District Honor Band i made it on the flute in 7th chair and if there was a 6th chair for sax i would have made it on that to and i was in Junoir High Wind Ensemble on the flute this year i treid out for it on both and well i am sure i made it on flute because last year i was the only 7th grader to make it in the flute section the rest were 8th graders but i really hope i made it on the sax but well as you can tell i really need some help so can you help me? And if you can i will be forever greatful
