I don't keep track when it is on as usually the only thing I watch is my General Hospital. I have been watching that since I was 8.

I might have to turn it on tonight just to see Simon. Hee! Hee!

I am kinda over American Idol. Why can't they come out with an Instrumental Idol? Something you actually have to have talent for. I think I will stop there before I go into the corruption of America! LOL

American Idol is fun, entertainment, great ratings, etc. but dear students, please don't think that ones career is at an end if one fails to reach the top 4 of any contest or audition
If you took the top flutist from orchestras in the entire USA to audition for a new orchestra only one would get the top job
the real world requires one to get up after being knocked down many times
I would love to come face to face with some who told me I would not make anything of my playing

I had a full ride flute scholarship to a private college, but decided I wanted to go to a big music program at a different university (they had been wooing me, but not offering as much incentive). When I got there (uni) a week before classes started, I had a lot of time to think. I decided that there was not enough assurance that I would make it to the "big time" for performance, and I did not have a desire to be a junior high band director. I immediately dropped all of my music courses and took whatever leftover classes that were still available and fit into a semblance of a schedule.

It's not always just a matter of talent, nor is it just a matter of desire. There are many factors. I wanted to know that after getting my degree, I would actually be sure to be able to support myself and lead a certain lifestyle.

I know I made the best decision for me.

Toni, most musicians carve out a life for themselves, I teach privately, do lectures, occasional concerts on ships, concerts, recordings, etc. So if you have the desire and talent there is always a way to make it work. If you are hellbent in landing a great orchestra gig, that is a tougher path to follow, I know a few musicians who just put all there enery into orchestral auditions (not to mention a tremendous amount of money) and have come up empty, and they are great players.

0__0 The music world is tough,..i mean i have a lot GOOD luck and some talent and that goes REALLY good together^^
There's ppl i know who are reALLY good musicians but they have the worst luck ever. At district auditions, this really good flutist in my band accidently bumped her flute against the door before she went in. YIKES! That caused the flute to go weird..leaks. I felt bad.It wasn't only one person..there was four ppl in a row who did that. WIERD!

Well..that's good for me because that gave me a chance to make it in the district band..yup. Good luck?..OH YEA. About 100ppl tried out and only 30 made it in...

Every season american idol is getting worse and worse. The first one was the BEST..and now..well, it's okay.^^
I still watch it because it's still entertaining. I also watch America's next top model at the same time. Switching back and forth love that show. There was a korean-american perosn and she got kicked out last week. *snif* i liked her...oh well

Oh and there's this thing called INVENTER idol or something. Some ppl are really weird...cracks me up.
