ooooooo that sucks so much I would burn it too omg that sucks you know that you can put a dollar bill between the hole and the key pad then press on the key and pull out the bill slowly the bill leaves ink on the key and it does not stick i do this before every concert

<Added>

this does not ruin the flute in any way you can not see the ink and it will come of in a month or so which means you have to do it again don't worry i am not trying to kill your flute or anything

No, please do not use a dollar bill to clean your pads, you are doing damage to them and it is just plain gross. Band directors ought to be shot for telling kids to do that to their flutes!

I think this makes about post 100 in correcting someone that says to do this. Lol! It is too bad it just can't stay up on the top of the list forever so people would stop telling other to do this to their poor flutes.

SomeRookie,
I realize that you were just trying to help, just be careful about what you band director tells you to do is all, you don't want to pass the wrong information along even if you intention are good. :)

Something similar happened to me in high school marching band. We were at a UIL competition, and I was on piccolo, and the music called for a 3rd octave fortissimo G#. And, of course, there was a stupid bead of spit stuck between the G# key pad and the tone hole, making the note warble and screech all over the place. Being in a marching band competition, I couldn't pull the piccolo away from my face and blow out the tone hole, since coming out of marching stance at all would disqualify the whole band. So I faked my way through the rest of the set.

None of the judges said anything about that note, but when we watched the recording in band class, all accusing eyes were on me.

Anyway, on this vein, I just found out that Yamaha makes "cleaning paper" (just glorified cigarette paper). It was just interesting to find out considering how inconvenient it was to have my dad getting me cigarette paper when I was twelve because in my state you have to be 18 to buy that sort of thing. With "cleaning paper" anyone can just go to their local music store and grab some.

Hey Kara, do you now do engraving also? It really looks nice but I didn't think First Act flute came that way.

I engraved it and added the gold. That was one of my first headjoints that I experiemented on, so it isn't that great. I have a better picture of engraving on my site. I am still using a cheepo engraver, so it is pretty hard to do.

Well I am trying to sell it so I canput the money from that one to get her a really nice flute. Her mother (my sister) doesn't have the money to get her a flute, yet she can go to Disney world every year. Lol! Go figure!
