Lera, please don't take this the wrong way, but for the benefit of yourself and others, you may want to download this,
http://www.iespell.com/download.php

It is free and that way your spelling errors won't get misinterpreted and others may be able to under stand your posts a little bit better. Hope that helps, I know it has for me

If you have a spell checker in your computer, then why don't you use that? Did you say that you have been in the US since you were 8? Do your teachers in school give you a hard time for your spelling? I know I had a hard time with it.

Lera,
Have you been in the public school system since you came to America? Have you been in ELL (English Language Learner, sometimes called ESL: English as a Second Language) classes?
I also admire your multi-language ability. But, I would encourage you to keep using the spellchecker technology. It will help you in the long run.

lol! crazy @__@ !! my mom always used that when she emails me^^ YUP, i love that smiley. I had to take ESL when i was in 3rd grade..i thought i didn't need it. IT was weird..i remember the only thing they talked about was hats and cats..uhh..yea. My mom took me out of that class. I was SO HAPPY!! and i was fine afterwards^_^
BUT ESL would help..if you have a second language..i don't remember anything from there..but....my school's messed up.

A spell checker that spells your words wrong. LOl! I am glad I don't have one of those, my spelling it bad enough.

<Added>

I wonder how your spell checker comes up with words that are not even english words in the dictionary. Weird.

Guys, I have though that Lera is actually trying to add her speech inflections to her spelling as someone from the US south may try to make their words more reflect their sounds.

Take this sentence:
The rain in spain falls mainly on the plain.
Redneck:
Th' rain in spain falls mainly on th' plain, as enny fool kin plainly see.

Jive:
De rain in spain falls mainly on de plain. 'S coo', bro.

Sweedish Chef:
Zee reeen in speeen fells meeenly oon zee pleeen. Bork bork bork!

und soo, veee have sohm sohrt ohv eshu mit lerah's spehlun?
Eye kahn rehd eet hear fahn. sie ist sehr kuhl.

You have a point, but I still think a working spell checker would be nice. I find it aggravating trying to read at times.

If someone is a US citizen since an early age, then you would hope they might have it better by now. The English language is said to be the most difficult language to learn.

I shouldn't talk because I have been a US citizen for 29 year and still don't use proper punctuation and spelling all the time. I am try to improve it though, but I admit spelling is hard for me and I do have to work at it all the time.

I think that everyone should get off Lera's case. She has already stated that she speaks many different languages and that her spell checker is not based primarily in English. Try using Microsoft Word and spell 'and' as 'adn'....it will automatically correct it for you. Her computer and software are probably not her own but her parents' who may converse primarily in other languages to relatives, etc. She's a kid who perhaps can't afford to buy software of her own.

I think she is pretty brave to come on this forum and risk being berated each time she posts. And frankly, this intolerance will stop others from posting for fear of similar treatment.

Sorry, I suspect Lera is pulling our legs..

He/she cannot have an auto spellchecker when posting on the Forum.

Such a thing should be embedded deep in the OS, to be able capture the keystrokes and change them (for good or bad). Who could have done such a weird thing in his/her computer?

Unless he/she writes first on a weird word processor with a crazy spell checker...

In this case, he/she could simply write directly on the Forum and skip the word processor. Sure the results would be better than they are now!

I have never heard of any software that can auto correct what you type using multi-languages. I checked some of Lera's postings and her spelling and construction of sentences are most of the time correct, with the tendency of becoming misspelled on the most commonly used words or names.

I definitely agree with Jose Luis. Lera is pulling our legs.

Lera, it's good. I have to admit that sometimes your postings are funny and lovable, make me laugh a lot of times.

I am wondering how long it would take the average person to learn english and spelling from a young age that is from another country? I am sure it is not easy. Some people never do.

<Added>

But yes, I have to tend to agree with the others on this one.

Learn how to spell girl. I don't think anyone is buying the whole act about your spell checker going out. Just admit it.
