Are you auditioning on flute or Clarinet? I was just unclear as you had mentioned that you asked the Clarinet forum.
If you are talking about the 39th measure where the flute comes in, then I would keep it simple as like the recording does. It has more of a march sound to it, so I would avoid too much vibrato. You could had a hint of it on the top E's in the 41 and 42nd measure. I played this piece before, it is really fun. Remember, it is a faster moving piece, so don't overdue it, keep it simple.

Hope that helps. If you have any trouble to what measures I am talking about in case you don't have the sheet music with you, let me know and I will write them out for you. Good luck!

Sorry, I meant to say you could ADD a hint.

Ahh.. I thought you were auditioning on flute or I wouldn't have told you to use vibrato where I did. I don't know about clarinet, I don't play.

I am in the middle of getting some flutes done, so I will get back to you on the tips, I promise.

Tell the to use a D instead of a T when tounging it. Also, tell them not to get ahead of themselves on it. It is okay to look ahead, but they need to focus so they don't end up rushing it. It will tend to get sloppy that way. Also, practice slowly at first, one measure at a time then add a measure and so on. Practice singing the part. (In a lower key of course or an octave lower.) If you can sing it, you can play it. (Well unless you are tone deaf.) Do not over empasise the staccatoes. They should be short but not overblown. You risk cracking the note that way. I am sure you know this stuff, but maybe you could pass it on to your flute friends at band.

I hope that helps. Now..I gotta go to bed! It is 5AM! Where does the time go. Busy..busy!

Sorry, about the spelling errors. I was too lazy to spell check it.

generally clarinetists only use vibrato for jazz/rock. Not in band or classical solos.

Generally, all clarinetists, as goes with flutists, are not alike!

Yea..it's hard to read ppl online..that's why there's SMILEYS! OH YEA :D!! i LOVE Them..we should have MORE!! MODs,..more smileys??

And yea.. you need a lot of patience for the going slow at first and then faster. I DO NOT like that..i'm not that patient. When i first read music..i like to go fast. And then i would get the habit of going fast and maybe the notes won't be clean..then i have to START ALL OVER..and my private teacher would make me go SUPER SUPER slow..*SIGH*

YEA..i NEED patience.
OH..and i also don't like it when my tounging and my fingers don't match! that's SOOOOO anoying@ AHHHHHHHH:0

This is excellent advice. This works in almost all activities requiring motor planning. (I even use it while doing speech and language therapy.) You know that is how things such as dance moves, martial arts moves, good golf swings (etc) are learned .

Consecutive repetitions of correct production before increasing rate.
