HEy ppl! just wanted to ask you 'why are you in band?. I want to hear what you guys have to say.
There's a BIG diversity in my band..and idunno, i'm wondering why you guys would still be in band^_^
And particular reasons?..feel free to answer!!

I play in a local community band and do so because I love to play. I have made some really wonderful friends in there also which makes it that much more fun. It gets me out of the house as I work out of the home and am here a lot.

I am in band because I love the music. There were a lot of things that I had always wanted to do, but playing a musical instrument was the biggest one. When I entered band, I met my mentor, the director whose words are still helping me learn to teach today. I have gone through a different band director every year of high school and every professor I have ever followed has left, too. I stay in the music program to stay strong for my musicians and my friends. I am a leader and I have earned a lot of respect for leading the band through troubled times. I love the music because, when I play, my heart is at ease. One of the people I lost because of the constant band director switch was a man I loved and I stay going in the music, too, because I know he would not want me to quit.
Music has always been my favorite part of life and I play because I love it. I am in band because that is where I can perform in front of people and show others what I can do. I love listening to bands perform and what is better than listening while you are sitting with the band!!!???
(Did't mean to go all sappy on you! I am just very passionate, I suppose!! )

Ahhh..that was really sweet! Thanks for sharing you guys! i LOVE band too and i'm going to be in band for the next four years..before i didn't realize the point because no one in band would EVER listen to the director.. i was about to quit 4 times!..but i always needed that extra support^_^..yup.
Oh, andrew..i LOVE solos too! i used to hate it in middle school because i would get so NERVOUS! but now i like to show off during solos..and
yea! band helped me to become a leader too..because there's not that much flute in our band.

im in band because whenever i don't turn up for it my teacher asks where I was so i guess it would be easier to go than make up excuses. don't get me wrong i do like playing in an ensemble however the pieces we play don't take my fany i prefer playing in my local orchestra

Well, initially I was forced by my parents to be in band for at least a year. But once I started playing flute, I just couldn't stop! I love music and there's no way I could EVER give it up.

ME TOO! OMG, there's so many HOT drummers in our band..they're ReAlLY CUTE! And i got to make lots of new friends in band. ppl are so friendly! and it's always fun to make fun ofthe director too
if i came up to my director and said i'm going to quit band. he'll probably roll all over the ground and would be laughing at me..-__-" even i wanted to switch instruments..uhh..NOPE!..^_^

with my parents..i'm NEVER forced to do something..like joining band was my decision. i remember one time there was an assembly at my elementry school..and i thought band ppl were the COOLEST ppl in the WORLD! And when i joined band and i was in 8th grade..I got be IN the assembly and we went to elementry school performing. Yup..good times. all the kids were so CUTE! and i started dancing in the middle of the song..oh yea. GOOD TIMES!

i love all of these storys i started band in fifth grade because i had always liked music no one in my family had ever done anything "musical" and i mean no one my dad said i got it from him because he could (and i quote) play the meanest air guitar there ever was ya i know

i fell in love with my instrument and could not quit even if i tried so um i think that is it pretty dull i know but i figured it would not hurt to share

Well, I wasn't really forced entirely against my will. I was just considering other options at the time. Band was one of my top choices, though. My sister was in band and I knew I wanted to learn to play either the flute or the clarinet. Flute just happened to come first.

im in band because I LOVE MUSIC.
it's fun especially when i meet other musicians who are far better than me. I've met a lot of good musicians,they're really nice. they inspire me to practice more.

WOW!! That's A LOT of pets..
my grandma used to have over 20 rabbits. there was rabbits EVERYWHERE in her country so she would just catch them and take care of them..i thought it was weird..but it's PRETTY COOL!
