Oh my...Sounds just like Sir James Galloway-NOT!!!
I don't even know what to say.
Is this the reason that kids quit band- that they have a flute like this, or worse, an instructor like this?
Yikes.
I really can't imagine that this video would actually encourage somebody to purchase the flute.

It would actually be nice to see several threads "stickied" on these forums. Here are some that I would like to see as a permanent sticky:
EBAY
What Beginner/Advanced/Intermediate/Professional flute do you think I should buy? and/or What do you think of brand X flute?
Technicians Corner? (maybe)?
Anyway, those are just some thoughts on threads that I see pop up over and over. It would be kind of nice to be able to click go directly to one place to find something like that, or to be able to ignore it if you don't want to read about it, but you can't ignore the OMG CHECK THIS OUT threads >.>!!!

I just got bored and had a look at some flutes (on the Dutch version of ebay), and I'm just totally annoyed by the number of people - the majority in fact - who don't seem to have a clue what they're selling!
"Nice silver flute" - No brandname
"Yamaha Professional Flute" - No model number
or my personal favorite:
"Selmer flute with (small) defect" - The entire lipplate was missing!
Very few, if any, listed the model number, NONE listed things like e-mech, B-foot, offset G...
What's the point? Do these people expect to sell anything to anyone except to other idiots? One year ago I had never even held a flute, now I at least have a pretty good idea what I'm talking about, it doesn't take that long to do a bit of research, and these people presumably must have played the things at some stage?
(Sorry, I needed a bit of a rant after pages and pages of that nonsense! )
<Added>I mean it's like: "Car for sale, it's BLUE"!

I've a yellow Venus piccolo and I'm glad other bidders were put off by the colour. Its the best piccolo I've ever played - although I don't have a large enough statistical sample to know that this is representative - probably not. Frankly, a good brand increases the second hand value and the cost of servicing but colour of lacquer doesn't accept tone, intonation etc. I've seen and played "quality brand" instruments that well below expectations. The problem with buying anything off ebay is that mostly you cant try it out before you bid.
Some of us are old enough to remember when Yamaha flutes were first imported into the UK ... they were rubbished by retailers and western manufacturers selling over-priced and over-rated established brands.
