That was great for your first week Lera! Really OPEN that throat to get the lower notes out. Even if it means honking for a while til you can control it. The Tenor is a monstrous instrument to play compared to flute or clarinet. Keep up the good work!

Congrats, Lera. Good work!

Both recordings worked fine in my PC. Those who have problems, check that you have Windows Media Player correctly installed.

Ut oh....Lera's been found out! What's up with that...they are exactly the same right down to how long they are plus the grace notes and tone are EXACT matches. Either Lera is recording stuff for companies, or something wrong is going on here!

Oh dear!!!! Why, Lera? I managed to get the file working for me because I wanted so badly to hear you play and, I have to say, I was impressed. Then, after Andrew's post, I went and tried for a half and hour to get the media file to work for the link he posted and.... they were the same! How awful! I feel pretty bad right now...

<Added>

Lera, if you did do the recording for the company, good for you, but, if you didn't, I think you owe us an apology or an explination or something! I like to think the best of people, but this is just too suspicious... :(

If Lera did take that recording from some where else then this is my take on it.

I feel for her and do know why she did it. Maybe because of competition and or she wanted some respect. Some people can be so judgmental (I have been guilty myself of this) on these forums and read into what another one writes. My spelling is bad, so some people have implied that I am not very smart or I could not possibly be any good at the flute or what I do. Self esteem can become a real issue.

Lera honey, I know why you did this. Be proud of who you are girl! It doesn't matter if you aren't as good as "so and so" out there. Play for yourself and no one else!

That's very true Kara! Putting other people down on this forum should not be tolerated. I try to stay as neutral as possible regarding the way others say things, or the way they act toward me or other people. I do, however, tend to give my opinions all the time, and especially like to when I feel that less than admirable advice is given out. The same goes for Kara. The reason for posting your recording links on this website should not be for competition. It should be for gaining more knowledge and taking constructive criticism to heart, and then using that to work on making a BETTER recording. No matter how good or proud I am of my recordings I am always looking to make them better and get advice to do so! If you are posting files to show off, then please stop. Please keep the forum as a learning experience for everyone!

I wanted to also post to let you guys know that I added recordings to my site. I am looking for suggestions especially on the Dutilleux selections that I have posted, plus the cadenzas. My flute does not like to get real quick changes in the third register that the cadenzas (especially the first one) call for. Also if you have listened to Rhonda Larson's "The Way of the River" I am looking for advice that is seriously audibly needed. I have silencers on my flute, and am not really hitting the keys hard. It seems that if the background is nice and full, my flute is fine...you can't tell this, but if it's only piano like in this piece...it slaps big time.

BTW - KARA! - You are not allowed to listen to Sweet Simplicity until I get a recording of it!!!! Don't make me come hurt you!! http://www.putfile.com/thebluflame

Lera has just lost all credibility by choosing to deny this. Shame on you, even after Kara stood up for you.

Methinks our Lera (she of the strange spelling) likes to mess with our heads, and should perhaps at times be taken with a grain of salt...
