Hi all,
I've been asked by a friend to play at her wedding. I was wondering what pieces you might suggest. Before you start suggesting pieces consider the following points.
1. I probably won't have anyone accompaning me
2. She is having a "fairy" themed wedding so she wants music that is "fairy like"

Thanks

Hi there,

I didnt have a solo flautist at my wedding, but we did have Schubert's Ave Maria and Pachelbels Canon in D
I imagine if you find the right score, they could sound so beautiful.

The love theme from Romeo & Juliet 'might' be a little cheesy, but if its a fairytale wedding, it shouldn't come across as such.

These choices might be a little predictable, but I think they fit the 'fairytale' theme and will sound nice as a solo.

Not sure of the skill level Erin but there's always,

Syrinx, Debussy

Danse De La Chevre, Honneger

Also Ibert wrote a Solo called Piece for Flute Solo which is less thematic and has something to work on

Not as "Faiery-like" because it's SW Indian style but it's out there and not too difficult is the Kokopelli By Hoover.

Of course there's always those Telemann Fantasias
The Bach a minor Solo Partita and Sarabande.
Or something from the C.P.E. Bach a Minor Sonata would work.

You could play the much overworked theme from the Pachelbel Canon but it's not technically a Canon when played as a solo piece.

Thanks for the suggestions. Basically anything that is a fluteworld.com level 3 (I don't know what that is the equivalent of using the grades system).
