I have decided I am going to call it quits on 8notes. I have not really been happy with the way people bicker and fight on here. I have started my own discussion board at Yahoo Groups! If you feel you are worthy enough, then please join it! I would only like Adult Serious Flute Players to join please. I will be watching the posts closely, and will delete posts/members in a heartbeat if people are not respecting each other. I am sorry to do this, but this forum has really brought me down mentally the past few months. I realize that people have their own ways of doing things, but do the people on here believe that? I do want to start making my discussion board more of a help center. I will be taking votes on Saturdays and Sundays as to what piece we concentrate on for the week. I would love some more experienced players to sign up for this reason. If you want to be in a learning environment, and are open to ALL types of flute playing (whether it be classically trained or not), PLEASE join! If not, please don't waste either of our time. Thanks for some good experiences here guys! I hope this forum gets it together one day, and I can come back and actually be proud of what the forum has become. That will not be soon, though.

Dennis, I do support your idea of founding a new site, as this is always helpful. If you moderate correctly, perhaps you can keep the bigger trouble makers ot of it.

I will visit your site and consider posting there (this time I must add, if I get accepted). I could not appreciate a learning environment more.

Your reasons to quite are understandable, considering that certain behaviors have caused you personal problems. Same people and probably more among artists, are very sensitive and are not willing to deal with or simply cannot face the dark sides of other people personalities.

It is true that now and then there are personal attacks that I could never understand, but usually they fade away quickly.

I think this reflects the some behaviors of real people out there, possibly enhanced by the anonymity of virtual discussions. But even those who are attacked most often, sometimes react in a rather hard way. (please, I am not attacking anybody in particular)

I would insert here the famous film citation from Billy Wilder, "Well, nobody is perfect", with my addition "but some are much (too much?) imperfect than others":

However, I do not find this Forum to be so hostile as to force people to leave. I enjoy it and occasionally I have posted trying to stop a thread that IMHO was "going bad" or just disregarded those posts that I find offensive or hostile (quite few, as I see it)

In fact, in 8notes forum there is an "invisible" moderation and any post can be reported to the moderator if someone considers it to be offensive or inadequate in any sense. I guess (but no sure, of course) that this is seldom used.
People here seem to prefer setting their issues directly, as is in fact the way we act every day and every hour in our real lives.

I suggest that for your new site you take some inspiration on Sir James Galdway Forum; it is moderated (though some people think that too much), but it has a very respectful tone and is highly professional.

It also enforces a set of rules or "netiquette" that I find very useful and could have avoided many disagreeable situations if this was used in this Forum.

Good luck and do not leave with a bad taste in your mouth, many of us here do not deserve it.

I am not leaving because of a bad taste at all. I prefer to get help and understanding through a message board that does the same. There are quite a few "kids" here (and some kids are over legal age), but then there are some people that are TOO adult. These people take criticism to the extreme, and believe that everything said on this forum is a personal attack at them. I am moving to a forum where the environment is friendly, and constructive. If you have ideas in regards to things going on or postings of some sort...please don't hesitate to email me. I love hearing other's ideas!

I admire your personailty and you've always respected everyone.^__^ Being one of the "kids" here, i've learned a lot from you. I still remember all the advices you gave out. AND hopefully over the summer i'll be able to go to florida university for the flute camp you've talked about I LOVED your recordings too. THat one song that you played, simple siplicity? (heehee, i still can't spell it right) was AMAZING!! AND i thought it was rhonda larson, purple dress woman^_^lol. I'll always go back and listen to your recordings..and hope you make more!!

I don't mind if people post on the forum, but be warned - I am treating the site as "No Holds Barred". No matter how much I like you, if you post something negative or off topic...I will delete it. I will not hesitate, and I do not play favorites. If you are negative toward another person on this site, I will delete your acct and any account I can find of yours on there!
