hmmm.....a silver spoon kid with potential in music....hmmm....

how bout letting her meet another young musician who's not much of a silver spoon?
maybe this kid doesn't know yet how fortunate she is.
she needs to know how valuable things are.
it's just a personal suggestion. see, there are not much rich people in my place and being able to afford a private instructor or the flute itself is a dream come true.
let the kid know how lucky she is

THat's a really good idea kishi! I learned a lesson like that too. I always got what i wanted in my family when i was younger and i was treated like a princess. I had all the food, etc. When ever something went wrong..OH! did i get mad!^^
I had a friend and their family was a immagrant. They weren't rich and lived in a really small apartment. I went for a sleepover one day in winter. and i noticed a lot of things different from my house. It was COLD..and yeah. i stopped being a spoiled princess. LEARNED alot.
and basically, i learned a lot of things being around ppl who are less fortunite(sp?) and different from me^^..that's a good idea kishi. never thought of that.

thanx schoolgirl,
it's good to hear that you've learned lots of things from the same situation.

Sometimes people who have great potential are those who do not have to work as hard as us in perfecting their craft. On the other hand, their interest is higher than normal. Maybe she requires a different approach. And perhaps, her being born with a silver spoon is the wrong way to look at it.

I am normally very practical when it comes to spending but I broke that rule when I hire my teacher and so far it has always been a bliss with him. I am also the type who always argue about a lot of things. There are miscellaneous pieces that he would ask me to play exactly as written and I would always play it as I like. So he asked me one day what inspires me in my playing and I told him about some singers that I adore and how I would like to create that kind of style in my playing. So from now on, he lets me play my way...only after I play his way!!

HEEHEE^^ That's a cool teacher there. I don't have any special stories or a unique thing my teacher did with me. I just play what she told me too and that's what we've been doing for the past 2 years..
