My flute teacher is saying that I must go to the music high school because I've got a potencial, talent and I'm also quite hard-working. But the problem is that also is saying that my violin teacher. And on me is that I choose betwen flute and violin. So what to do? I realy don't now how to find out wich instrument is better and I love it more. Please help me!

I would say that you should choose the one you are more confortable playing. The one you feel it's more integrated with your body.

No, schoolgirl.I'm choosing an instrument. In my country you can go to the music high school just with one instrument. Well, you can have two instruments, but it's hard to do both, because you must practice quite a lot...

In my country (the UK), there is a tendency by music teachers to fill the places in specialist music colleges without consideration of whether the players are likely to be good enough to make it in the profession. Many (most?) end up teaching rather than playing professionally.

Fortunately, most do not make this decision until they are 18 and then rather than a specialist music college, many have the option to do a University degree in which music is a major part. From this they can then do a music diploma and - assuming they are good enough - can still pursue a professional performing career.

A wider training including other subjects many allow individuals to switch careers later in life when the demands and competition in the profession are too discouraging.

For the best 10% in specialist schools and colleges other career options are not usually an issue.

i had to make that choice once too
i also used to play the violin put i stopped under different cicumstances my teacher was horrid.
but i think you should do what ever you feel most comfortable
- think about when you wake up in the morning what do you want to play / what do you feel you can reach your full potential playing
if this helps please let me know lol
and remember you dont have to quit playing either one.

OoH! ahhh..i see. Hey emz, i agree with you. You should take her advice..whatever is comfortable. i had to choose between violin and flute too. I knew that violin was gonna be easy then flute..well, that's how i think of it. And i wanted a challenge so i took flute.. Flute's pretty..but i also LOVE the violin too.. YEAH..flute is my instrument right now..but once in a while i'll pick up my brother's violin and play around with it. Twinkle Twinkle little stars?

The High School I used to go to before I started being homeschooled didn't have any string intruments in it. There were some brass players who would switch to another brass intrument for a certain song if there weren't enough of them, but that was about it.
