Joe, and anyone else who are familiar with these, please jump in. Have you seen or tried this type of cork this type of Delrin stopper.

What are your thoughts? For $25 I thought I would try one out, but was curious what others might have to say about them. I had a First Act flute that I bought just to evaluate a little while back and I found a delrin stopper on it that looked very similar to that one but without the O rings which I thought was kind of interesting.

I've made some of these myself. They are like the rest. $25 is certainly cheap and if you like it, you like it..

Because most of them seal through O-rings, the stoppers themselves do not need to be replaced. I could see the material of the O-rings perhaps drying and cracking or something, and then the O-rings might need replacement, but as far as I can figure, the stoppers are meant for the long haul.

That's right, You might have to replace an O-ring once in a blue moon but that's about it..

They seem like they would be more reliable then the standard cork.

Ann, you read my mind. I was wondering the same thing!

Lera, the one I had did have one of these stoppers in it. It must have been added. I had another First Act that had a regular cork in it, so I am quite sure.

I would really like to find out what this guy's wooden headjoints are like. The somewhat excessive prose and comparison with Stradivarius tend to press all my cynicism buttons.
(Although admittedly, they are easily pressed )

Well, Leporello, I've played one (albeit several years ago), and can't say that I thought very favorably about it afterwards. If you want the look and a bit of the sound of wood for very little money, his heads might be the way to go, but there was nothing particularly impressive (at least to me) about them, especially when much better wooden heads are available from so many sources today.
