I sent my flute away to a repairman first week of Sept. He said it woudl take 3 weeks to get the pads (straubinger) and 20-25 hrs to install them and do a complete overhaul. Well, it has been over 3 weeks so there is hope I will get it back soon. I CAN'T WAIT. I haven't really been able to play this instrument in about 5-6 years because the adjustment was way out and couldn't afford an overhaul.

For your info (or Lera's) the pads are costing me $150 CAD.

BTW, the flute in question is Powell 2100

I miss my headjoint most since I am playing my Yamaha 481H (bought in 1990) with it's original headjoint (when I was playing this instrument before I sent my flute away, I always played it with my Q Powell headjoint and miss the resonance, but my yami sounds not so bad).

That is great news. I would be excited too. I have been playing my Yamaha 561 with the Nagahara head on it more than my Powell lately because it is a lot lighter. I love that flute! I am thinking about getting Straubinger pads put on that one. I just hate the scale on it though. I heard that the newer Yamaha's have an improved scale, but haven't tried one out yet to find out. Maybe Lera can install my Straubinger pads on it. lol!

I know what you mean about the Q headjoint. I have always liked the zing to it. I am not too fond of any of the Yamaha heads myself after playing on the Powell head. They just sound dead to me without any body.

Sorry Lera, but that doesn't work either. In the last thread you mentioned that Straubingers cost you 25 dollars. If you do the math here, even if you were talking on a single pad basis (rather than for an entire set), you were way off. For a flute without C# trill, that would work out at about $8.82 per pad, and for one with C# trill, about $8.33. As Kara said, let's not start this again.
