Well, the Rhonda is coming along. I will be performing "The Gift" and "Be Still My Soul" on Dec. 12th at TCC here in Tallahassee. I just realized that, while still being a freshman, I amnot eligible for quite a lot of competitions. The only one I have found is the NFA convention Young Artists' Competition. It's only because of my age! Anyway, I decided, hey it's the one competition I can do...I'm going to do it. I decided this today...so I go to look at the audition list for prelims...Mozart Andante in C, Boehm Variations on a German Air, and Shumalit Ran's East Wind. I got them outof reserve in the library...and HOLY CRAP!!!! These pieces are INTENSE! Has anyone ever played the East Wind piece? I have a recording of it...wow is what I have to say. I have a recording of it...and don't like the person's high D's and D#'s. They are WAY too airy. Barely a sound...I am going to give this my best shot, but no amount of clapping will bring me back from where this piece will send me (By the way that was a "Hook" reference" (and btw again..."Hook" is a peter pan movie with Robin Williams for those of you that have no clue what I am talking about)! If anyone has ever played this piece I would love hints tips and tricks! Thanks!!!
P.S. I have not recorded the Boehm Grand Polonaise yet...I am not really working on that one anymore. Maybe next semester I will get more involved with it.
