It's quite a pretty piece. It's also fairly long.
I'm trying to convince the band director to let the band play Light Cavalry Overture for the spring concert. Unfortunately, it's not going very well.

I got to perform Light Cavalry last year on the original Db piccolo part....That was interesting! Trying to play a 70 year old (and thus funkily scaled) piccolo in tune with an honor group as you're hitting notes at the very top of the range is not at all easy! But it sure was fun, and it gave me an excuse to play my Db.

I performed Light Cavalry Overture with an honor band, and it was quite fun! I understand that the high range is not easy at all (I play C piccolo myself). It gets pretty deafening when you're required to play the highest A to C.
