I made region! Just barely, but I made it. lol. I made 9th chair concert, but it was my first time. Some of the flutes in there were AMAZINGLY good! They played the whole cut at a blazing speed with MAYBE one mistake. ARGH. Anyway, I screwed up my G flat scale and made a couple mistakes on the chromatic. I played the slow etude pretty well, better than I have been in practice, and the fast one was.. lol, pretty bad. On the tied parts I accidentally skipped a few notes here and there and played a LOT wrong. I was SO nervous. I came out of the room with my hands shaking, haha. The concert music looks really easy, considering that mess they made us play for tryouts. Anyway sorry for rambling, i'm just surprised I made it!

I'm assuming you're a middle-schooler or in a smaller high school because here those are the only ones required to play scales. If you're not in high school yet, not playing scales is one thing to look forward to but remember they are the foundation of everything.

As for your comment about "The concert music looks really easy, considering that mess they made us play for tryouts", you are right. It makes no sense. I was making our region's clinic folders (because my freshman flutist just made region wind ensemble!!!) and while the wind ensemble's music looks up to the level of the try-out etudes, the symphonic (your concert band) music is waaay simple.
