I've been playing the flute for over 4 years now. My first flute was from the military band and i had to get it repaird but they said they had lost it. Anyway now that i have this replacement flute my bottom lip has been burning and my hands ich every time i play it does that mean im allergic to the metal.

It could very well mean that. Is there a difference in materials from your old flute to this one? If not, I would suspect some sort of chemical left on the surface of the flute. Many people have an allergy to nickel, so if your flute is nickel plated, that could be the issue. Some (fewer than have nickel allergies) are allergic to silver as well. Getting a flute made of a material you're not allergic to (or at the very least one that's plated with such a material) should solve the issue if it is indeed an allergy.

One simple solution might be to wear latex gloves while you play. I have a friend who is allergic to silver, and she uses this method. It may solve having your hands itch, though it will be harder to work with a French keyed flute if you have to wear latex gloves.
