hello everyone. Im a newbie on this forum. I'm a senior in highschool and this is my ninth year of flute. I plan on going to college as a flute performance major even though ive only been taking private lessons for a little over a year, but i've worked my butt off in the past couple years. This year i was second chair in the asbda wind ensemble, second chair in the regionals concert band, im in all states but i dont know what chair or part i have yet...probably towards the bottom but hey ...its all states and i had the piece for like a month, participated in the berkshire league festival, principal second in the new england music festival concert band. ive been first chair in my school band for the past two years and i will hopefully be first chair in the litchfield county festival, but its okay if im not = ). I also play with the Torrington Symphony

unlike some people i LOVE to meet flute players who are better than me, my own age or not. It is always a learning experience and it is never wise to be rude to those you can learn from unless they are terrible people. (the large majority of players ive met who were my age who are a lot better than me are the nicest people ive ever met)

I still feel completely inadequate a lot, but i think i can get to where i want to be. and a word to those who want to perform, but feel they have do not have enough experience: you can do anything as long as you find a good teacher and work ridiculously hard.
