hey, new here and I'm trying to pick out a piece for flute and a piece for piccolo for solo contest next year and I need suggestions. I'm going to be a junior in highschool and this year I played a Vivaldi concerto so I'm looking for something harder then that. any ideas? also, what is the hardest piece you have ever played/heard?
thanks a bunch!

You should discuss any repertoire options with your private teacher. They'll best be able to help you find something that suits your strengths and will pose enough challenge to remain interesting without becoming frustrating.
There are plenty of very complex pieces out there for flute, but what one person considers difficult is not necessarily what the next guy would think is hard. Then there's also the question of whether you're looking for technical difficulty or musical difficulty. Most Baroque music doesn't look terribly hard, but it can be very difficult to play in the proper style, while plenty of music has lots of notes but is relatively straightforward to play. I don't think it's possible to pick one piece that's definitively the most difficult.
