Clarinet: Will it be hard? What reed should I get? Will it effect my flute playing?

Oboe: Should I first play the clarinet? Will it effect my flute playing severely? How difficult will it be?

I can play from low low B flat to high high C. I am playing a Sonata by Polenc.

i dont not see why your range on the flute has anything to do with your prospective instrument "treason" (as everyone knows, the flute is ultimately superior than any other instrument in the world... haha) and either does your current piece of work. what really matters is if you can play the instrument in question (or if you can produce a half-way decent sound on it). every embrocure is very different from one another, so playing another instrument will have an impact on your flute embrochure. whether its good or bad? only time can tell.

Thanks! I was just telling people what my abilities are for playing flute so they know how good (or bad) I am.

I switched from clarinet to flute about 5 months ago after playing the clarinet for 1 year. In my opinion the clarinet is a more complicated and problematic instrument than the flute to play. However the flute is a little more challenging to get a good tone due to no reed.

I just admit, I am plain and simple a terrible speller, but try to work on it.

I tried playing clarinet but the fingers were not similar to me. I gave up and went back to flute. I think my neighbors were much happier too!
