I called the expert village and left a complaint along with my phone #, so we will see if they call me back or not. I encourage everyone on here to please write or call and complain so that we may get this horrible advice off of the internet.

She is on expertvillage.com calling herself an expert and giving out 90% of incorrect information to flutists worldwide. I don't think this is being too harsh at all. Well.. maybe about taking away her flute and such comments. But they were just joking.

I have very mixed feelings about this.

I don't know if the "Sarah-is-an-idiot" commentator posts here, (I expect he/she does), but I think the series of comments is overwrought, WAY out of line, and beyond the bounds of decency. A typical example of people communicating on the web sinking to levels of rudeness and viciousness which they would (hopefully) never reach in more personal day-to-day communication.

I do agree however that her advice is spectacularly bad, and that it is unbelievable that she should be passing herself of as an expert. Philosophising about the internet again; a classic example that quantity of information does NOT equal quality of information.

The real shame is that "Sarah-is-an-idiot" is essentially correct; it's just that the way in which it is said is unlikely to have the desired effect. In fact, if you read the comment on her embouchure video written AFTER "Sarah-is-an-idiot"'s comments, you'll notice that not only are people still following her advice, but they seem to be going out of their way to be nice...
