I knew this Monday, actually, but haven't had much time before now.. I made it into my high schools top band, the Wind Ensemble!! As a sophomore thats really really fantastic
There's actually 3 sophomore flutes in the Wind Ensemble which is a HUGE number of sophomores for one section :P Last year he told us about 1 sophmore per section.. if that. Needless to say, there are some juniors/seniors who aren't so happy with us as a few of them were in the top band last year, but are in the 2nd this year.. lol, We find it quite funny (me and my friend Melissa, who is another one of the soph flutes, as they made some not so nice comments about it Tuesday) as we are the sophomores :P
Last year there were two bands, wind symphony and symphonic- wind being the highest. This year with a new teacher they added the Wind Ensemble which is now the highest band, and about 10 people smaller than last year. (our band without the freshman has probably 210-15 people in it. Marching band is 205, but there are several who aren't marching)
I was hoping that the fact that im in band and orchestra (meaning im not in band half the time) wouldn't affect my ability to get in the Wind Ensemble.. and it did. Actually, the band director put one of the others thats in band and orchestra as section leader of the 2nd band.. so apparently he doesn't care about the orchestra factor LOL.
