Dio, at the beginner level there's no way for a soon-to-be flutist to know how well a given instrument might play. It is indeed important that you try different flutes once you're able, but in this case, it won't mean much. Far more important is that you find a flute from a reputable maker that's in good condition. To the OP, a flute can have just about anything engraved on it, and those engravings don't often mean much. You could name a brand of flute the "USA America" line and still have them made in Pakistan. In any case, an "Earlham" (or "Earlaham") flute is most likely not of good quality, and you'd be better off going with a Pearl, Yamaha, Trevor James, Jupiter, etc.

I think that the Earlham is a brand that is primarily sold in the UK.
http://www.free-scores.com/boutique/buy_Earlham_120_646.htm
536 Euros. or about $574.90 .
If they are advertising it as USa made with a british soundung name, then I'd be suspect of the quality. The above compaly only sells them to US adresses. I have not ever seen one here in the US so far. So why would they make them here and not sell them here?
The same company advertises the Yamaha 221 for $804.01 which is in line with the US suggested retail for that instrument.
for that $574.90 price on the Earlham, I would not expect the quality to be the best. I would look for a used Yamaha in good condition if possible.
