I need to get my Yamaha 881 completely repadded after a locol tech did the worst job I have ever seen. The flute is unplayable and I'm fed up with ameture band repair techs. I came across Sherry's flute repair and looks like she can do a pro flute for about $650. Has anyone used her?

Well, I could have guarenteed that there was just a thread about this...but now I cannot seem to locate it. If I dreamt that, I am beginning to think I am crazy.
But, to the point. No, I have never used her. The other thread had TONS of recommendations. The guy I normally use, which I have been told is one of the top repairmen in the SE only charge me 400 for a repad...it would have been 600 for an overhaul. So that price seems steep to me. I guess it depends on location. I have had a COA done here and was very pleased. Both of the techs worked with Brannen for several years.

If you can find the former post about this you will find TONS of info. I tried to look over the last couple of pages, but the forum seems to be bringing up tons of older posts. Oh well. Good luck!!!

Those are nice prices, and she has a few impressive references you could consider contacting. Of course she's not going to include anyone whose flute she messed up on her references though.

Sorry, I was referring to Sherry's site.

I have had her overhaul a flute for before. She is Emerson Defords daughter, so she grew up into flute repair and flute making. She is good, but her highest quality of pads that she has and uses I did not care for as much. They started fraying only after a month of use. She did tell me tht they were top of the line pads, but when I had Tonya at the Miyazawa CO re do them, she said they were not. I liked Sherry's work, it was very thorough, but I just did not care for the pads that were used is all.

My favorite tech to deal with is Tonya at the Miyazawa CO. She is very fair with her priced and is wonderful and communication. Her work is outstanding too. You can contact by calling the Miyazawa CO and asking for her. They are super friendly down there. She does work for Miyazawa, but has also worked for Powell, but does work on other brands of flutes.

Good luck with it
