I wanted to add the following to my post on "Wonderful Flute Clips":
It's Maria Ramey's site: (
http://www.flutecorner.com/famousflutits) --- and she is obviously very gifted.
You can hear her clips on the (left) side of the page.
What I thought you might be more interested in, is scrolling down the middle of the page, where you'll find "bios" of several flutists.
Not all bios have audio and/or audio/video clips --- some are just bios. I haven't looked nor listened to them all, since there are so many.
I should also tell you, that when you click on a web site on her page to "hear" a flutist --- be aware that these are MP3 files and can take a minute or two to download. I know -- I panicked when I couldn't "get a page to come up" -- but, be patient --- it will.
The three artists I found that do have audio a/v clips are Jean Baxtresser's page: click on "web site", then click on "discography" --- then, you'll come to "samples". I found her interpretation of Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun haunting and beautiful.
Rhonda Larson has a wonderful web site. When you scroll down Maria Ramey's page, go to Rhonda's web site: there are 3 or 4 a/v clips of her playing. One, in which, she is apparently conducting a master class. She's great! On that page (you have to hunt and peck and poke) you'll also find a link to Emmanual Piaud's (sp?) performances (a/v). Wonderful flutist.
Finally, I found another wonderful flutist who may not be a "house-hold" name, but is soooo talented: Tracy Harris.
To get to her recording clips, you scroll all the way down to the bottom of her web site: then look for the link: "recordings" --- it will bring up about 4 or 5 of her clips. You'll love her.
Any questions about how to navigate Maria Ramey's site? (
http://www.flutecorner.com/famous flutists).
I'll help if I can.
Best to all: Jim
