Would I use Silver Tarnish Remover? My flute is used so it has some tarnish in a few places.

Your flute really should be completely disassembled before polishing. I would not use any liquid silver polish on it, especially when it is still all together. If it gets any where near the pad or in the mechanism it can do damage. There are powdered treated polishing cloths for flutes. Again, same goes with that. I would use if very sparingly as the powder can get into your flutes mechanism.

I'd recommend if it's heavily tarnished, before you start scratching it up with metal polish and such, consider taking it to a shop that can use an ultrasonic cleaner on it. If the keys are also heavily tarnished, it almost certainly needs new pads as well, so this might be a good option.

It'll run a couple of hundred dollars plus pads, but the thing will look like new.

Light tarnish can be removed with a bit of gentle rubbing and an eyeglass cloth.(small bit of saliva or slightly soapy water is all you need for minor stuff - and some patience)

edit - I recommend saliva because it won't hurt the pads. A small bit of soap won't either(literally one drop in a cup of water - just enough to get some cleaning going).

Good thing I didnt then, cuz Tarn X is what I was about to use! Also the tarnish is only between the keys(not on them or in them!) and a little under the posts. So....warm soapy water? Saliva? Which one is safer to use??

Do yourself and your flute a favor, please don't use either. Take it to a repair tech and have it done properly. You are more than welcome to pass it along to me and I would be happy to do it for you.

Ok so what would you do to my flute exactly? And how would we go about starting this? Because it sounds like a great idea.

Yes, that is the price I was charging for a COA. I like doing it and if it is for a friend that doesn't have much money, then why not? I don't need the money to live on alone, so it doesn't mean that much to me. And yes, I have come into contact with VERY tarnished flutes. I don't make it a business or advice doing COA's, so like I said, it is mostly just to help out friends or people in need.

Oops.. the word I was looking for is advertise, not advice. Stupid spell checker!!
