Many thanks for that - I have fallen in love with it and it is on the way to the repairers for repadding and a spring to be replaced plus a top for the headpiece to be replaced.....

Just hope it's worth it LOL will still work out cheaper than buying a playable one in the first place -

When I get it back I just need to learn to play it!

Still I have my little wooden fife to keep me occupied along with my trusty Sapphire (which I owrked out I have had 25years and never had a service) whoops perhaps I should give it some TLC .

I am sure I will have more questions over time

Just re read through - the flickr image I tood - and yes it does have the nipple style keys as described - you just cant see it

That was a good bit of info.

I have recently developed a flute addiction.

My husband is silently horrified. I have been buying a bunch of old flutes and takeing them apart and fixing them.

I can't tell if my flute intstructor is amazed or horrified. I hope that she is amazed.

I have also been buying old pics.

I bought a fife type instrument and I haven't yet figured out what key and how to play it.

I would love to buy a really old flute and attempt to fix it, but then I wouldn't know how to play it.

Do you know the fingerings for the old flutes?

Thank you for your fantastic help - I am so excited about it as it seems to be a beautiful instrument - just hope the nice man I spoke to can make it play for me - he was confident with the description that it would be pretty easy - he specialises in wooden flutes and fifes.

Now I have a wooden fife LOL think that will be a new thread..
