Hello- I'm a brass player, but When my parents and I went to an antiqueish furniture store ther was a $60 flute and I'm such an instrument junky I HAD to have it. I think it will be a good Idea to learn to play flute, because there isn't much solo music for trombone and tuba
. So, any way, it's a Gemeinhardt, and it has the Ted Brown loaner instrument plaque on it, so it's had quite a history. The lady at the counter played for 20 years, and since I know nothing about woodwinds other than form band I asked her to assess it, and she told me that it has all pads and the pins, joints, etc are in surprisingly good condition, but it has one large ding on the head joint. She toodled it and it worked, So now I have a flute!
So, was it a good deal? But, more importantly, does anyone have any advice, particularly maintenance? Thanks a ton- I will be checking other sources, but I would really like your opinions.
<Added>- I just noticed that it's a "2sp", so I didn't stumble on an unnapraised goldmine.
