Yamaha 221 for $549 new. But, made in Indonesia?    11:29 on Thursday, September 18, 2008

Well, I went and did it this morning, and bought the Yamaha 221 flute. I paid $549 for it new.
Whats puzzling to me is that it was made in Indonesia... I had thought they were all made in
Japan. Hope I didn't make a mistake. But, it does play a bit better than the Armstrong 102
that I was playing. The low C's on the Yamaha are much easier to hit than on the Armstrong.

Should I be concerned that my Yamaha 221 was made in Indonesia?

Low D note problem in my new Yamaha 221    09:08 on Friday, September 19, 2008

As I previously mentioned on this site, yesterday I went out a purchased a new Yamaha 221 flute.
With this Yamaha 221 I can hit low C with no problem at all, and even get the octave with ease also.

But I have a problem with low D on this new flute. I am confused with this new dilemma. I was thinking of returning the flute.
But, perhaps I'm doing something wrong in not getting a good sounding low D. I've only been playing flute
for about one month and I could be the problem instead of the flute?

I've also had the same problem with the rented Armstrong 102 flute I had.
I hate returning this flute when I could be the problem and not the flute.
I"d so much appreciate any feedback before I return the flute.

thanks,
