It will only make a sound difference if the riser if it is solid gold, NOT plated. Even that is up for debate with some flutists. Gold plating is for looks or hyper-allergenic reasons only.

you can also leave you flute together at night, put it under a glass pyramid, and align it to magnetic north and south, I heard that makes you play better in tune the next day...or wear a pyramid hat when you practice as well...

I dont believe this magnetic poles crap. There really is no true north because then were aligning to some place over by Greenland.

Lmao!!!!! I use thsirt, and underwear and a pair of jeans, and socks when I am practising. I don't have a hat... I don't like it:D
