i`ll have to say, either you`re school is really good (doubleful for a highschool...college maybe), or you only have that many people to be loud and impressive and cover up all the crappy sounds. Cary High has one of the best marching bands on the east coast, and they`re not that big. sorry to bust your bubble, but in this case, bigger doesn`t mean better. you need to deflate your head.

when i was talking about my band being rated #1 in the northeast of course i was talking about out of highschool bands. Obviously college bands would be better than a hs band...i just said that i liked my big band bc everyone was saying how the bigger bands aren`t that great. Our sound isn`t that loud...it`s more full if u know what i mean

Western Carolina University, "Pride of the Mountains," Marching Band had over 300 members in marching season 2004. We literally filled up the field. We had 32 "Flutes," of which, more than 20 were Piccolos. My high school marching band was composed of 40-50 members. It was a big change (but a nice one)!

Like Wow! I love marching band! I trip and fall on my face all the time. People call me a dumb blond, but I don`t care. I may not be that great at the flute, but at least I can use it for other things.

Well, seeing as I am probably the only Canadian on this thread, I`ll just say that my school`s marching band has 0 members. That`s right, we don`t have one. I don`t know why that is, either. All the American high schools I`ve heard of have a marching band, but none of ours do. The only high school marching band in my city takes place out of school, and you have to devote a ridiculous amount of time and $$ in order to be in it. I also think the only reason we have the marching band is because Alberta is having its centennial celebration on September 5th. Hope you guys thought that was interesting.

I think the people in Ireland are deprived of school marching bands or any sort of musical groups. Where i live we have no musical groups at all.If you want to be in an orchestra or marching band you you have to pay something like 100 euro a term (over $130) and all the practices are either at the weekend or after school until the night.

230 people in a marching band must frighten the animals away. I can`t think of a worse sound.

What do you mean frighten them away. I think a marching band sounds more purer with more people. But like we say, "Quality, not quantity"./..o yea, and there are aabout 130-150 people in our band. Excluding Auxilary
