I needed a light for my stand, something that did the job well, not expensive and battery operated.I've been searching for over a year, finally I found the ideal model: Köning¬Meyer (K&M) model 12285. I recommend it if you need a good, portable but bright light for your playing:
- battery operated. Just 3 LR6 AA cells will last for 8 hours. But you can fit up to 9 cells inside the lamp body, which gives you 24 hours without refilling. Say, you have to play Wagner's tetralogy, non-stop? This is the right lamp!
- It is not a LED lamp. It uses a modern CCFL lamp (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp). Shines nice white light, not bluish, perfectly smooth (no bright/dark spots as with LEDs), very agreeable to our eyes.
- Bright enough to allow comfortable playing in a complete dark room, even for a bad-sighted like me.
- It is mounted on an adjustable goose neck support with a clamp, that fits almost any stand, thick or thin.
- reasonable priced: 28 Eu (about 39$) + shipment
Only inconvenient is that it is a German manufacturer, I am not sure if it is available in USA. I purchased at Thomann in Germany, together with my new recording gear.
