I hope that it is allowed to post a "for sale" ad ?
I am selling a brand new Yamaha 221 flute that I personally purchased JUST 3 WEEKS AGO at Flute World, one of the most respectable stores in Michigan and in the United States, and played less than 2 hours. I am 57 years old and I am currently studying clarinet with a teacher, and in addition to that I am self-teaching the trumpet. I wanted to try the flute and I choose the Yamaha 221 after having compared it with the Gemeinhardt and the Jupiter.
ButI finally decided that the flute is not the right instrument for me. More over, my teacher told me that it would be too ambitious, at my age, to try to learn two instruments at the same time. The returning time frame at Flute World is 15 days, I exceeded it by a few days, so I decided to sell this beautiful flute privately. The flute is 100% PERFECT and it comes with an elegant hard case, a cleaning rod, a brief Care of the Instrument manual, and a couple of soft fabric towels to clean the instrument both inside and outside. I paid $ 525.00 plus taxes for this flute.I am asking for $ 400.00 included shipping in the United States. I believe that this is a great opportunity to purchase an excellent instrument from a very respected Maker, in brand new condition, at a very good price. Please do not hesitate to contact me at gpavone@comcast.net if you are interested and if you'd like to receive photos of the flute. Thanks.

It is a good idea to play first the clarinet, and then to choose sax and/or flute. Personally I learned the piano at 8, continue the French bassoon and soprano sax at 12. Lator, I decided to come back the bassoon at 25 but found only a German system bassoon much easier and learned in the same time the full Boehm system Selmer clarinet 20 keys 7 rings. Afterwards I planned to play old jazz. I needed an alto sax. I had the opportunity to play the bass sax and I learned the bass clarinet with a friend bass clarinet specialist in Belgium. In roaring 20's I was confronted with a lot of sax interventions but did not find the good musicians who accepted to play this style. Thus I bought a tenor, bariton and C-Melody second-hand. All these isntruments are very different to play not only the fingering but the use of old mouthpiece is rather difficult. Now I would also play the flute and piccolo which are often use in old jazz.
I wonder if I shall be able to play them seriuosly!
I always try to find an old bass sax not too expensive because my job is not in the musical area. Sorry I am French speaking. I never use written English! Sometimes German and Dutch and Spanish. I am now 52 years old and ... married.
In beginning 90's I palyed the church organ with bass pedals, the vibes (vibraphone) and the cimbalom. I also try to find a good vibraphone(vibraharp in American English) such as Premier, Studio 49, Bergerault or Musser but it is rather expensive and I am not the President of the US ! In old jazz Jimmie Noone was playing on a Selmer German system 19 keys 7 rings. I try to find such a clarinet on ebay. Only Artie Shaw palyed on a full Boehm Selmer 20 keys and most of the time I played on a A clarinet! A crazy man ! Everything is possible when you are interested. But if you don't use it in a band or a combo, then it is maybe a lot of energy for nothing. Good luck.
In Holland most of the musicians plays cornet and saxophones or like Bix the piano and the cornet. It is not impossible. Don't forget Coleman Hawkins played at the beginning of his music story the bass sax and bass clarinet then he took the tenor sax. Benny Goodman played the alto sax, the bass clarinet in 1928 and came to the soprano clarinet aferwards. Benny Carter played both alto sax and trumpet.Adrian Rollini the specialist of the bass sax took the vibraphone during the 2nd world war. To learn the Boehm 17/6 system clarinet is stupid because in Germany and Austria they make a lot of other nice systems with a lot of keys : Keilwerth with the Konzert 7c model proposes 30 keys and the Austrian maker Gerold proposes one top model with 32 keys !Of course it is possible to ask something more like to transform their calrinet in basset-clarinet to play Mozart, it means 4 keys more to low C and you may get it in C, in B and in A. Someday I will let all this information on your website with url addresses. Kind regards.
