I am the flute section leader for the Capitol Pride Symphonic Band (CPSB), a group within D.C.'s Different Drummers (DCDD) in Washington, DC. We are seeking three to four additional flutists to play with us.

Our open house/first rehearsal will be on Monday, August 3rd, at 7:00 PM. We rehearse on Monday evenings in preparation for our fall concert, which will be on October 10th at the Harman Center for the Arts. We are very excited to once again take the stage at such a magnificent venue.

We are a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) organization, but welcome all our friends and supporters to play with us. For more information about CPSB and how to join, please visit our Web site at http://dcdd.org .

And what's wrong with a LGBT band? I don't understand. There's nothing wrong with a kid reading this...

Who advertises about a !*****! group on a flute forum? What is this world coming to? If you want to be !*****!, keep it to yourself. We don't want to know about your sexual preference. Do they have a band just for straight people and advertise it that way? No, I don't think so. It is like you want recognition for your sexual preference. Think about it.

To further elaborate my earlier post. If you want to have a band like that, that is fine, but keep in mind that there are a lot of children on this flute forum. Sexual preference should not be brought up. I have nothing against your organization, but you should probably find another vehicle as which to advertise your organization.

Why should it matter that it is a transgender group??

No matter what the other members of this forum say it is still nice that you have let us know about this group, unfortunatley the uk is a bit far away oter wise I would be interested, as I am looking for a group to join but all the ones in my area don't need flutists.

Why should it be mentioned at all? Young people just don't get it. It is the way that society has brought them up.

Jeez you guys need to relax. What's wrong if the TC wants to advertise that his band needs members?

Well you see there may be people who aren't ok with joining an organization that has anything to do with homosexuals so it might be why the TC mentioned it.
And Gay Pride isn't about recognition fyi. It's about equal rights, understanding and acceptance.

Why is it a problem for children? I'm not seeing the issue........

I'm sry I just had to respond to this

What in world are you talking about? Society? I might have been influenced by society today but I was brought up by my parents.

Ask yourself this question, do you advertise your heterosexuality on a flute forum?

I had already explained in my previous post why the topic creator may have mentioned it was an LGBT Band. There are people are not ok with homosexuals. The TC probably wants flautists who are ok with homosexuality.

Well, not everyone is okay with it or promoting it for where there children can be subjected to it. It is like bringing up the topic of abortion on a flute forum. In which I did, sorry about that. I only wished it as an example.

Listen do you have a reading disability or something? No one was promoting anything. Makes perfect sense to me if TC needs Flautist's for his band in DC and asks on a flute forum if anyone wants to audition.

And again, what's wrong if a child see's a band is part of an LGBT organization?

Finally, for the last time, I just stated not everyone is accepting of homosexuality which is why the TC may have mentioned it. The TC may not want someone to audition and pull out at the last minute after he/she finds out it is a LGBT organization.

I am still failing to see the point. Why is it bad for a child to see someone asking for members for a LGBT band? There is nowhere in the post that says you HAVE to be LGBT. The poster is not putting up any restrictions for members, they just need some flutists...
