I an currently looking at buying a Berkeley Pro C and Bb Silver 16 Key Flute, along with a few others I have been able to find reviews on all of them minus the Berkeley. So here is my question, can anyone give me a "review" on one of these from personal or secondary experiences. Thanx in advance.

Ebay Item number: 220384683888

Hmmm, I'm really not sure what they are selling.
Are you going to try to use this product as a musical wind instrument?

In my opinion, the most rewarding part of their ad copy is that they included a link to J.P.R. Playing the Mozart D maj Concerto on YouTube. It's fine playing. Especially the Cadenza, I think. But he's not playing this music on this specific brand & specific product that is being sold on Ebay. He's actually using a professional quality flute. I guarantee that fact 100%. -which seems to be more than they are doing with whatever it is that their product is.

I'm very sorry if my review may have appeared to seem biased.

I was suspect as well which is why I requested another opinion. I am looking for a flute for my daughter to learn on. I played when I wsas younger and have a basic Idea of what to look for in a good flute but it has been about 25 years and I am unsure of the newer flutes other then the obvious ones (jupiter, yamaha, pearl, etc) that are still around and considered good. I do not want to get her a flute that is hard to learn on. I know when I first started the "junk" one I had at first was very hard to get sound from than my parents came a cross an older flute that was a higher quality for me to use and then I had no more issues and found it much more "fun" to practice. Thanx for your input.

For starters the title "Berkeley Pro C and Bb Silver 16 Key Flute" should be your first clue. It is not a pro flute and they don't even know if it is in the key of C or Bb! Avoid! I have come across one of these flutes and the G# key broke off completely. It could not be soldered back on because it was cheap pot metal. They are very cheaply made and do not play well. You are best to stick with the brands that you mentioned. Yamaha would be my first choice.

Well, in your case, when you were young, your "junk flute" may have probably been an older flute that was out of condition for playing. I'm not speaking about specific flutes such as what you were looking at but some of the newer flutes that are being sold very cheaply are not anywhere near the quality of your beginner flute. One concern is that they aren't fixable when they go out of adjustment. So the flutes that you mentioned and many of the older "U.S." Brand flutes are pretty much still durable for children. Any suggestion past the quality issue would need for a person to actually try out a specific flute. Sometimes you can find a good used quality flute but even some of the new ones in typical stores may have issues.
The best suggestion that I can come up with is go with a name brand flute, and then go and have a flutist/teacher play test and recommend one in person.
Then go with private lessons from a good flutist. This way, the teacher will suggest in the course of the lessons if repairs are needed and also educate a young player about care and practice. The whole process is invaluable for the child's education in general as well as just the musical experience as it will help the person with areas of their education that you can't assume.
