Hi everybody!

Where are you old fellows? Everybody's gone? Still on holidays? The malfunctioning of the first forum page has discouraged you from posting? (it was solved yesterday by Admin, I wrote him about this and it worked)

Or is it that my new avatar with the flute mask scares you a little? Me too. So I am changing it again with a new picture of Saturn under equinox light.

C'mon, come back. I do my best, keep posting, finding new issues, replying now and then, but more life is needed here.

It was a nice place and problems seems now to have run extinct. So take profit of this period of calm and join! At least while it last...

Thank you!

I thought I would check in and take a look since I was told that this form has been rather quiet. I think that this forum has changed directions recently and perhaps people got tired of it or have moved on. It is sad. Life can get so busy that it can be hard to try and keep up with cyber space.

Still here lurking.
Not much to say as I'm trying to conserve more of my energy for my practicing rather than typing and reading things online.

I am also practising quite hard. I have almost completed the Telemann Fantasia Nš 5. I still have many problems with the Allegro and its octave jumps. But during rest hours, I still like to type/chat here.
Also working on one movement of Mozart Magic Flute (Es klinget so herrlich). Nice, merry and easy piece in arrangement for two flutes. And I keep working on my own Bach's Partita in A minor. One day I will surprise my teacher playing it. Or she will surprise me with demolishing critics. To be continued...

Yes, those Telemann's are tricky pieces.

I tell my students that the fast sections don't have to be fast always when practicing. One can get familiar with them in slow motion as they are ironing out all of the wrinkles, one can work on small sections including two notes at a time for plenty of benefit. This benefit can and should be in the form of physical development as well as mental understanding.

The Bach Partita (BWV 1013) goes the same way. It can take many years for a person to get a good understanding of what they want to say in such a piece.

These pieces are always most enjoyable for me to work over.

I am here occasionally. I am just too busy with school and life. I try to stop in and see what is going on twice a week.

I'm around too. Since I'm still kind of a beginner there is not much to post about except frustration with the music school administration and things like that.

A summary of what's going on:

Good things:
* My current practice piece "Speak softly, love" or the love theme from the God Father. A wonderful song! (Happpy about the "Evrybody wants to be cat" duet too.)
* I'm now able to play from C1 to G3, and extending my scale fluency. I'm also not terrified of syncopation anymore, even if it certainly isn't easy.
* Have strted weekly lessons, instead of every other week, and it seems to work out really well even though work hinders my practicing.

Not so good things:
* The music school enseble is temporary closed because of lack of interest.
* We were planning a flute ensemble this semester, but it was not started due to students quitting lessons.
* The music school owner is not really doing much to improve and develop the activities. This is a really sad thing because the music school has so much potential.
* Without any notice the music school changes their payment policy so that you now pay for the coming month istead of for the previous month. I don't mid at all, since it likely makes things a lot easier for the music school. However, it's not ok to just send two invoices and expect people to have 1000 crowns (150$) extra without any notice, and without even a note explaining why you recieve two invoices.

Congratulations for your progress. Keep working in spite of the difficulties at school.

You may be able to join a group somewhere else, if the school is not able or not interested. The higher the playing level you get, the easier wiil be to find partners for a group.

In the meantime, work on duets with your teacher or play Duets/Trios with recorded accompaniment, if you have accesss to this or you can prepare your own. I have a few, but they are all baroque music.

Hi, I am still arround, am also trying to practice a Telemann sonata, the F major which I will play in a recital end of november. I can't practice as I just had a minor operation inside my mouth to remove a cyst/protusion, now my inside mouth is all stitched up! still hurting a bit!

Cheers Joseph

I was lucky that I was abroad and did not follow that drama at all. Maybe that's why I did not go hibernate. Welcome back!

Hi ! I was kozafluitmusique, but I created a new account a few months ago and kinda disappeared...I recognize some users here I've been busy with doing my bachelor's of music in education degree amongst other things. Let's just say, I've blossomed with my flute playing and I'm MUCH better than I was. I was looking back on what I said and wow, it's kind of shocking. I'm currently working on the second movement of Poulenc, "Danse de La Chevre", Mozart's first movement in D, and an orchestral excerpt. I am learning so much and I am enjoying the flute so much more. Hope everyone's ding well.
