GUESS WHO'S GETTING A PICCOLO. o:

Okay. Not for sure. 99.6% sure. Yeah.

But I can't decide which one I like better.

There IS an order. The one first is the one I like the most. And decending.

It'll be used for a combination of marching band and concert band. Well, hopefully. If not I'll just have a piccolo. =D

I've been looking at brands and stuff, doing my research. My Senior friend, Erin, doesn't like the Jupiter brand. But she doesn't have a piccolo like that - she has a flute. And that's the type that my sister's college has and she loves it. The other two are just kind of based off of what I like/reviews.

Thanks!

To be honest, I've never heard of the Woodwind brand, and it's always advisable to stay away from unknown or lesser known brands. I have heard of Bundy, and they're crap. Don't bother.

Jupiter has really stepped up their game in recent years. However, metal piccolos have a reputation for being particularly shrill. Perhaps a plastic Jupiter would be a better option.

Personally, I play a Yamaha-32, and it's decent for what it is. The scale is a little wonky, but there are far worse out there.

Good luck!

I just recently found a plastic piccolo that is much like the Woodwind one, only it's from Jupiter. I'm trying to convince my parents to spend an extra two hundred dollars or so than they wanted to...

It isn't working very well.

Our excellent Symphony Piccolo player had a Jupiter silverplated piccolo that she played outside at a Fourth-of-July concert. It was dreadfully shrill. I would not get a Jupiter all-metal piccolo.
Do consider the plastic piccolos by Gemeinhardt, Jupiter, and Woodwind (made by Gemeinhardt), as well as the Yamaha YPC-32.
The Sonare plastic picc that I tried was really nice, and played very much like an expensive wood piccolo.
I'd go for plastic, since it can be played outside and will have a less shrill sound than silver or silverplate, more like a wood piccolo.

What are your views on composite body/metal headjoint piccolos?

Definitely stay way from the no-name brands (like Bundy) I'd also not reccommand and Accent.. my friend just got one in August and has had nothing but trouble with it. For most the season it really has not even been playable.. and you probably do not want an all metal picc especially if you want to use it in concert band.

I'd look for Yamaha, Gemeinhardt.. I've heard good things about Jupiter but have never played one.

A metal hj/composite body works out well for a lot of people. Its really preference if you want a lip plate or not. I personally do not find a lot of difference.

I have a Yamaha YPC-32 and I like it. The scale can be horrible but if you have a good ear (which is really needed to play any picc) it can be played in tune just fine with practice. They are definitely good quality. I have played it for three marching seasons and in concert band, works great

And if possible, definitely try out some piccolos before you buy them. Fluteworld will send you them on trial, too I did that from them with my flute (that I ended up buying)
